Overview of all machine demonstrations

Below you will find an overview of the six demonstration topics

DLG courses

Three topics on three DLG courses - compare technical solutions in practice!

Weed control with harrow and hoe in cereals and maize

Daily from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

The harrows are often used over the entire surface of cereal crops. At the DLG Feldtage (Field Days), spring oats in the 2 to 3-leaf stage will be harrowed. 7 different brands will be in action for you.

What can the future weed control strategy in maize look like? With the discontinuation of some important soil herbicides effective from 2025, new solutions are needed here. At the Feldtage, 18 hoes will demonstrate their performance potential in maize for you. The maize is 10 cm - 20 cm high and the row spacing is 50 cm. In addition to the high-quality work of the hoeing tools, the focus is also on area performance. See how automatic row guidance and steering systems can reduce the driver's workload and enable higher working speeds.

Jonathan Kern (Bioland Consultancy) and Alexander Czech (North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Agriculture) will comment on the demonstrations.

Shallow tillage - from flat cultivators to skim ploughs

Daily from 1:30 to 2:00 pm

Whether it's about saving fuel or effective control of volunteer crops and weeds - you can discover a wide range of new and further technical developments for shallow tillage. "Shallow" means working an existing rye stubble of 10 cm to 15 cm in length to a depth of 3 cm to 5 cm after GPS harvesting. The starter field with 17 different machines provides you with a comprehensive practical impression of how a wide variety of technologies, from tillers and shallow cultivators to skimmer ploughs, master this task.

Jonathan Kern (Bioland Consultancy) and Alexander Czech (North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Agriculture) will comment on the demonstrations; students from the Institute for Construction and Agricultural Machinery Technology (Cologne University of Applied Sciences) will record and categorise the results of the work.

Multi-tank seed drills for the combined sowing of seeds and fertiliser

Daily from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm

With the changes in the general conditions for arable farming, the requirements for versatile sowing technology are increasing. For the first time at the DLG Feldtage, multi-tank drills from 11 different manufacturers will be in action on a cultivated rye stubble. Direct sowing machines will also be in use, which will sow directly into the rye stubble without further tillage.

Untreated wheat and peas will be used as seeds to represent different placement depths. This will enable you to get a good idea of the selected placement depths and the exact placement of the two types of seed. Alternatively, the second tank could of course also be filled with fertiliser or pellets.

Jonathan Kern (Bioland Consultancy) and Alexander Czech (North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Agriculture) will comment on the demonstrations.

Exhibitors in the area of the DLG courses 1, 2 and 3 can also demonstrate their technology on their own demo blocks (on their own initiative) from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

Live Arena: New insights right down to the smallest detail!

In the Live Arena, the following will be in action on courses with individual themes:

  • The field sprayers
  • The fertiliser spreaders
  • The loaders

The demonstrations in the live arena will take place twice a day.

In the live arena, images of each machine will also be projected onto two large LED walls by drones and web cams.

This means you will always be close to the exciting technical details.

Innovative technology for chemical crop protection

Daily from 10:00 am to 10:30 am and from 03:30 pm to 04:00 pm

Innovative technology for chemical crop protection is in demand when it comes to precision and saving resources. On the course of the new Live Arena, 9 crop protection sprayers will demonstrate how smoothly their sprayer booms work under different conditions.
First of all, it is important to avoid uncontrolled movements in a horizontal direction on the bumpy track and the field track, as they impair the distribution accuracy.
When driving through the innovation track, the field sprayers will then demonstrate boom application in row crops and spot spraying, which offers the greatest potential in terms of saving resources. In addition to the direct inspection of the sprayers' work, the images from the drone and the web cams on two large screens will provide you with the best opportunities for learning about the high technical potential of modern spraying technology.

The demonstration will be commented on by Harald Kramer (Chamber of Agriculture of North Rhine-Westphalia).

High-tech mineral fertiliser spreaders - focus on performance and precision

Daily from 10:30 am to 10:55 am and from 03:05 pm to 03:30 pm

The 7 mineral fertiliser spreaders will focus on performance and precision this year: On the one hand, the nutrient requirements of the plants should be delivered precisely to the (partial) area to be fertilised, and on the other hand, the fertiliser should be applied in line with requirements. This allows ecology and economy to be combined well with each other.

The performance of the spreaders is measured for spreading accuracy when spreading at the edge of water, at borders and at edges. The distribution assessment will take place live with the help of collecting trays and web cams. Particular attention is paid to spreading at the edge of water. A body of water has been created in the Live Arena for this purpose, which would show spreading errors very clearly. In addition to disc spreaders, two pneumatic spreaders will also be used.

Technology for lifting, loading and filling in the field

Daily from 10:55 am to 11:20 am and from 14:40 pm to 03:05 pm

"Field logistics" with big bags, pallets and TBC containers now play a major role in arable farms in addition to traditional loading activities. Is the modern front loader on a tractor sufficient or is a separate telescopic loader necessary?

This question will be addressed with 8 machines for lifting, loading and filling in the field. The course demands manoeuvrability, user-friendliness, stability, etc. from the technology used. With a sensitive load, e.g. an open TBC container filled with water, the goal is to transport it "gently" through a terrain to a trailer. You can also get an idea of how user-friendly a quick tool change can be. A large pile of wood chips and an 18 tonne trailer are also available to demonstrate the range of the loaders.

Martin Vaupel (Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture) will comment on the demonstration.
